About Terri Layton
I was born in Seattle, Washington and moved to Portland, Oregon where I attended St. Mary's of the Valley school for girls. College started with Portland State and then finished at P.C.C with my Associates degree in Paralegal Studies. At the same time, I was working for US Bancorp Mortgage and decided Mortgage Lending was more aligned with my interests than becoming a paralegal. So, I stayed in the industry for 5 years doing everything from processing, closing and funding loans to wholesaling and working as an Executive Secretary for the Vice President.
For the next several years I bought and sold investment property around Portland. It thrills me to find the great deals, renovate them from top to bottom, and sell them for a good profit. I'm currently renovating my 9th property.
In 1995, I moved to southern California for a job selling plastic resin to film manufacturers for a company out of Texas. I was hired as the Regional Manager responsible for west coast sales and distribution. Quite a jump from mortgage lending but I knew the former Regional Manager and it was a good fit for me. I'm a go getter and I love sales. It was also great timing because the housing market was at a low and I was able to buy a condo in Newport Beach! Dream come true! Then, due to family matters, decided to sell my condo when the market had improved and move back to Oregon.
I became a licensed Oregon Real Estate agent in 2005, and in 2006 received my Bachelor of Science degree with a minor in Real Estate Development from Portland State University.
Now, I enjoy helping others find those great deals, as well as offering my expertise to those that are ready to sell. I think I've reached my level of success by approaching each home with tenacity and passion as if I were buying or selling my own. I view homes at their future investment value, not just their present.
I like to keep my clients informed every step of the way, and I never push anyone in their search for a home. It is a difficult decision, and you should wait until you walk into THE home and say "This is it!" Your home needs to fit you emotionally as well as financially.
